Collaborative Learning at Rajiv Memorial Institute

Collaborative learningCollaborative learning is a method of teaching and learning in which groups of students work together to explore a significant question, complete a task or create a project. While working face-to-face they learn to work as a team, in which they are individually accountable for their work, and the work of the group as a whole is also valued.

Rajiv Memorial Institute encourages its students to reach out to each other to share knowledge and solve problems, which not only builds collaboration skills but also leads to deeper learning. Rajiv Memorial possesses various opportunities and resources to help its students visualize the concepts introduced in the classroom and to strengthen the learning through group collaboration.

For creating a cooperative environment for collaborative learning three things are taken into consideration –

First, the task must be clearly defined to the students they have to work on together.
Second, the group size must be small enough for everyone’s contribution.
Third, students must feel challenged by the project at the same time they should also feel safe.

In small groups, students get the opportunity to engage in several activities that improve their subject understanding & develop their interpersonal skills. By the experiential guidance of the teachers, students are inspired by the teamwork defined with clear objectives & their working in the group. Students can share strengths and develop their weaker skills working with more people.

Our collaborative learning techniques utilize a variety of methods, giving everyone a moment in the spotlight to Speak up!

Collaborative learningThrough different game playing and brainstorming sessions, students tend to develop both speaking and listening skills, feeling motivated and inspired to learn more.

These techniques empower and enable a student’s resilience about cultivating habits of mind — how to understand if you’re on the right track or the wrong track, how to test your own theories, how to look at your neighbour as a resource?
